2. Study methods

2.1 Hydrogenation techniques

The introduction of hydrogen into materials in the laboratory, in order to study the influence of this element on their properties, requires good surface preparation. The possibility of microstructure evolution under the effect of hydrogen pressure or temperature (precipitation of second phases, recrystallization, formation of defects, etc.) during hydrogenation must also be taken into account. The duration of loading is determined from the value of the hydrogen diffusion coefficient at the working temperature, to obtain the desired depth of the hydrogenated zone. In addition, once the hydrogen has been introduced, precautions must be taken to prevent its reabsorption from samples prior to testing and, in the case of specimens intended for desorption kinetics...
