6.1 White carbide cast irons

European standard NF EN 12513 (White irons resistant to abrasive wear) contains an informative annex on the heat treatment of nickel-chromium cast irons on the one hand, and high-chromium cast irons on the other.

These grades can benefit from a stress-relieving heat treatment at 275°C for 8 to 16 hours, followed by either air or furnace cooling.
