2. Conventional designation for aluminium and its alloys
Only standards approved in France are listed here. Other standardization systems exist (ASTM, ISO, AA, etc.). Readers are advised to refer to them if necessary.
2.1 Wrought products
At present, only designations in accordance with NF EN 573, parts 1 and 2, are approved.

Part 1 concerns a four-digit numerical designation, the first of which designates the family to which the alloy belongs:
1XXX or 1000 series: pure aluminum (Al ≥ 99.00%) ;
2XXX or 2000 series: aluminium-copper alloys ;
3XXX or 3000 series: aluminum-manganese alloys ;
4XXX or 4000 series: aluminium-silicon...
