4. Properties of electroplated alloys

4.1 Structure of deposited alloys

Deposited alloys may or may not have the same phase structure as alloys formed by conventional metallothermic means [1][45] . Different structures can be formed, including :

  • a homogeneous solid solution (Cu-Ni alloys);

  • a eutectic, consisting of a mixture of pure metal crystals of each of the alloy's constituents (Sn-Pb);

  • a defined compound characterized by a precise composition and crystal structure;

  • a mixture of several phases.
