3. Foundry and primary processing

3.1 Merger

In the zinc industry, the workshops involved in the primary processing stage all have an integrated foundry, whose main roles are:

  • the smelting of zinc feedstock either in the form of electrolytic zinc cathodes or ingots;

  • production of the desired alloys in the liquid state;

  • recovery of manufacturing waste from the primary transformation stage in the workshop, or from the secondary transformation stage at the customer's premises.

Our aim here is not to deal with the problems of melting zinc alloys [16] , but rather with the special features of melting plants...
