3.1 Criteria and preliminary steps
The specifications for all foundry tooling are based on the following data:
produce a geometrically compliant part;
produce the defined quantity of parts;
can be mounted on specified molding machines.
In order to take these requirements into account, the designer separates the input data that will determine his design into 2 categories:
related to the part to be produced (geometry, size, position of the part in the mold, etc.);
related to the environment in which the tooling will operate (machine, connections, maintenance,...
