2. Comparison of the main application properties of copper alloys
2.1 Associated elastic and electrical properties
Copper alloys find many applications in the manufacture of special springs and, when good elastic properties, high electrical conductivity and low contact resistance are required, in electro-mechanical springs and electronics. What's more, good resistance to atmospheric corrosion often makes it possible to dispense with any protection, whereas copper alloys require the deposition, even locally, of more noble metals (Pt, Au, Ag, Rh, etc.) when contact reliability demands it. Having said that, it is not possible here to deal in detail with the manufacture of springs, nor to analyze the multiple factors involved in the design of accessories for electronics (connectors).
