5. Interaction with thermal cycles

The role of the thermal history of products containing microalloying elements is fundamental, given the evolution of precipitates (solution setting and precipitation in particular); this history is linked to the manufacturing cycle, which comprises three phases:

  • liquid steelmaking and solidification ;

  • shaping: rolling, forging or casting;

  • any heat treatments on the finished product.
