3. Conclusion
Today, hopes for future developments, through improved properties or the development of new materials, rest mainly on three lines of research aimed at
improving the properties of Nd-Fe-B magnets;
mastering the process of obtaining coercive powders with a view to manufacturing anisotropic bonded magnets offering an excellent quality/price ratio and capable of competing advantageously with ferrite magnets;
the development of new families of magnets, in particular HIREM-type magnets, with very high remanence.
It should also be noted that, with the rise of microtechnologies, magnets measuring a few hundred, or even a few tens of micrometers, will be required. Thin-film...

In 1998, the global market for all magnetic materials was estimated at around 30 × 10 9 euros. One-sixth of this market is specific to permanent magnets; it is currently growing at a rate of 10% per year.
