2.1 Process principles
Hot isostatic pressing eliminates non-through cavities in parts. By "cavities" we mean different types of "missing material", and it is this typology that enables HIP to be divided into several processes.
When the cavities are non-through, the parts can be processed directly, in which case HIP is a post-treatment process (§ 2.2 ).
