5. Parameters controlling gassing porosity on castings

The sudden change in hydrogen solubility in the metal during solidification is responsible for the gassing defects that can appear in castings (figure 8 ).

The formation of this type of defect depends, first and foremost, on the hydrogen content of the bath, but also on other factors which we will now examine.
