5. DC electrical methods

5.1 Basic principle

DC electrical prospecting methods can be used to determine the distribution of materials in the ground by means of their resistivity. To do this, a DC current is injected into the soil, and its intensity I is measured by means of two metal electrodes (A and B) planted in the soil and connected to the two terminals of a DC generator (figure 10 ).
