A model widely used to describe the viscosity behavior of many low-molar mass liquids was proposed by Eyring et al. . It leads to an Arrhenius-type equation: η=A exp (BT)

Another model based on free volume considers a liquid of hard spheres in which diffusion is possible when a vacant volume, larger than the minimum volume v*, is formed in the liquid
