3.1 General

It is therefore possible – subject to a few generally unrestrictive assumptions – to predict the filtration of a given suspension on the basis of relatively simple tests.

  • Equation (13) can be used to calculate at least one acceptable order of magnitude for the specific resistance of the cake: the specific surface area a g is deduced from a particle size analysis of the suspension particles, the average porosity (under the pressure conditions envisaged) being obtained by a test on a büchner, filtration...
