3. Operation of a multi-pump plant

When partial flow operation is required by the very nature of the process to which the pump is integrated, it is always necessary, at the design stage, to consider multi-pump solutions among the many possible solutions.

In our example ( [J 2 910] § 2.3), if we hadn't chosen the "all-or-nothing operation" option, which makes a multi-pump solution unattractive, we would have had to consider the possibility of using two or three pumps operating in parallel. We would then have had to complete Table 3 on [J 2 910] three times, for Q = 0.36 m 3 /s (1 pump), Q = 0.18 m 3 /s (2 pumps) and Q = 0.12 m ...
