5. Conclusion

Liquid phase membrane separation technologies offer a wide range of economic and operational solutions to industry, enabling high yields to be combined with the development of new products or co-products. The approach that leads to the implementation of such solutions naturally requires a rational approach to the choice of membranes and process configurations. Membranes must be selected on the basis of their initial chemical, physico-chemical and structural properties, as well as their operating performance, which in most cases requires laboratory tests using the actual fluid to be treated.
