2. Solid-fluid operations
2.1 Solid-liquid extraction
The solid-liquid operations discussed here concern the selective dissolution of solutes in a solid by a solvent.
This unit operation is one of the oldest in chemical engineering, and is particularly used in hydrometallurgy (selective dissolution of ores or leaching) and in the food and cosmetics industries (beet sugar, oils, natural essences, etc.).
The simplest case involves a solute A, an inert solid matrix B and a solvent S. Any graphical representation of a ternary system (triangular or Janecke diagram) can be used
