5. Application example: total combustion of a coal particle
5.1 Statement
Spherical, porous coal particles of diameter d p = 10 –3 m are combusted in a fluidized bed of sand, the temperature of which is kept constant at 1,073 K. The characteristics of the particles are :
bulk density: ρ a = 300 kg · m –3 ;
specific surface: σ = 10 m 2 · g –1 ;
internal porosity: ε = 0.86 ;
tortuosity factor: τ = 8.6 ;
