2. Operating variables

The main operating variables that determine the gasification process are :

  • the nature of the hydrocarbon load;

  • oxygen/charge and water vapor/charge ratios;

  • pressure ;

  • the use of flame-temperature moderating gases other than water vapor, e.g. nitrogen (air gasification) or carbon dioxide.
