
4. Modeling hollow-fiber modules
For a hollow-fiber membrane, three types of flow can be considered (Figure 13 ), which are idealized representations of the flow configurations shown (Figure 10 ): cocurrent flow with permeate discharge in the same direction as the feed, countercurrent flow with permeate discharge in a direction opposite to that of the feed, and crosscurrent flow with immediate permeate discharge in a direction perpendicular to the membrane.
