4. Function setting
If all parameters remained perfectly fixed, control would be useless; if they all varied at the same time and independently, control would become impossible. We must therefore strive to keep as many parameters as possible constant, and we'll have enough to do with those whose variations we can't control.
4.1 Flow rates

Column feed rates should be kept constant wherever possible. A flow regulator with recorder and totalizer should be used, so that the daily quantities treated can be easily ascertained.
If the feed is distillate or raffinate from another column, there's no way to regulate the flow rate to a constant value.
