3. Decanters
Decanters are centrifugal machines fitted with a screw whose bowl rotates on a horizontal axis. They are mainly used to clarify (two-phase decanters) mixtures with a high sediment content (up to 60%). Three-phase decanters are used to separate liquid – liquid – solids.
Their lower g number limits their use to suspensions that settle more easily.
