2. Workshop scheduling

2.1 Definition

The workshop scheduling problem can be formulated as follows: schedule the set of tasks to be carried out as efficiently as possible, allocating the necessary resources to them and setting their start date.

The term "best effort" implicitly gives this definition an optimization function, so that the problem is not just a matter of determining feasible solutions, but also involves finding the most favorable of them, in terms of a desired criterion.
