AFC (Alkaline Fuel Cell)

A fuel cell operating at room temperature in which the electrodes are separated by a porous matrix saturated with an aqueous alkaline solution, such as potassium hydroxide (KOH).

AEMFC (Anion-Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell)

Fuel cell that uses an anion exchange membrane to separate the anode and cathode compartments.

SOFC (Solide Oxide Fuel Cell)

A fuel cell operating at high temperatures (500 to 1,000°C) in which oxygen ions produced at the cathode are moved through a solid oxide (electrolyte) to react with hydrogen on the anode side.

DAFC (Direct Ammonia Fuel Cell)

Fuel cell, generally SOFC type, powered directly by ammonia.
