2. Waste management strategies

Before any consideration is given to the choice of a treatment route for a given waste, two preliminary steps need to be addressed:

  • The first concerns all the analytical work and behavioral tests required to gain a thorough understanding of the waste in terms of quality, quantity and space-time;

  • the second, more difficult task, is to choose the most appropriate management strategy from all the available options.

2.1 Analytical knowledge of waste
