2. Technical description of the innovation
Curcumin 1 is a natural orange pigment extracted from the rhizome of Curcuma longa, a herbaceous plant native to India. This molecule is widely used in the food industry, as the E100 colorant. It has been attributed medicinal virtues, such as anti-cancer or anti-inflammatory properties, but a recent study has finally demonstrated the absence of such activity in clinical trials .
