5. Preparing for the future
Between Nicolas Gisin's announcement of a general-purpose quantum computer for 2024/2029 and the European Commission's (JRC, Joint Research Center) prediction of 2023/2039 (although quantum simulators were announced for 2016), we discover new quantum publications every day that tend to shorten these deadlines. The quantum revolution is underway, and we must join this movement without delay: the stage of fundamental research, first experiments and pilot deployments is already past. The uncertainty that hangs over the reliability of certain ciphers (Snowden affair, suspicion of backdoors in certain commercial ciphers) could be lifted by increasing security thanks to quantum cryptography. All the more reason to secure our data with secure means such as DQC and all the protocols yet to be invented with quantum cryptography. Finally, quantum physics is both the threat and the cure.

Research and development in the DQC industry
This group includes spinoff SMEs that are pioneers and leaders in DQC. We note the disappearance of one of them in 2009: SmartQuantum.
IDQ – Id Quantique (Switzerland), SeQureNet (France), MagiQ (United States), QuintessenceLabs (Australia), Qutools (Germany)
To this group should be added the...
