2. XML document structure
The structure of an XML file can be broken down into three parts: a prologue, a description tree and, optionally, additional comments. The first lines of the document define the prologue, which will contain the XML declaration, certain processing instructions dedicated to external applications, and possibly the document type declarations (DTD).
