5. Examples of TEI applications

In this section, we present a few examples of the practical use of TEI by researchers in the humanities and social sciences.

Basically, TEI provides the researcher, on the one hand, with a set of documentary elements enabling him to manage his "library" of texts (what we have called the "TEI header") and, on the other, with elements enabling him to represent these texts.

The following examples illustrate both aspects.

5.1 Example of a TEI header

Our first example is a TEI header taken from the documentation volume accompanying the simplified version of TEI (the "TEI Lite").
