4. Conclusion

Like the discipline itself, software dependability standardization is in the throes of change, in search of maturity. There is a strong tendency towards convergence around common principles. A wide range of methods and techniques are still being recommended. Over the next few years, the selection and persistence of methods and techniques will be heavily based on feedback from actual use, which is not yet available and is sorely lacking at the crucial moment of choosing the right technique(s) and method(s).
