3. Elements of comparison

In order to remain objective and avoid the usual polemics that arise when comparing languages, we're content to give a few pointers so that those who want to use a scripting language don't take the plunge completely at random. In any case, there will always be someone advising one language over another, with good reasons to back up their assertions. What's more, the choice is often a matter of culture (object-oriented or not...) or personal taste.

We give some indications, firstly on the choice between scripting languages and system programming languages, and secondly on the choice between scripting languages. It is important to bear in mind, however, that the realization of a complex application (of significant size) will always require the use of both types of language, depending on the applicability of each.
