3. C++ in industry and research

The C++ language has been used for complete or partial programming of a wide range of industrial and research applications.

The language's designer, Bjarne Stroustrup, maintains a personal web page listing a range of systems, applications and libraries developed in C++ (see ). While it's difficult to appreciate the true value of object-oriented language in simple C-style programming, it's worth pointing out the diversity of the fields involved, for example :
