3.1 Object typing
There are two kinds of objects (or data): constants and variables. Variables are always designated by an identifier. If required, constants can also be named (§ 3.2 , PARAMETER attribute). Named objects (constants and variables) must be typed in Fortran. This typing is done either implicitly, according to the initial letter of the object name; or explicitly, by means of a type declaration for the object.
