6. Decision analysis

6.1 Context

Data stores are extracts of the data contained in the data warehouse, dedicated to a specific business function or class of users. Decision-makers manipulate the data in these stores using specific tools. To meet this need, each warehouse is based on a specific data model. These data models can take the following form:

  • a relational DB ;

  • a table manipulated using a commercially available spreadsheet program;

  • a specific decision-making environment (Business Objects universe, Cognos catalog);

  • a multidimensional DB.
