7. COBOL program development

COBOL compilers usually give a lot of information about the errors detected in the programs submitted to them. But the compiler does not detect errors beyond checking the writing rules of a COBOL program.

Having corrected syntax errors with the help of the compiler, the programmer must then correct logic and calculation errors with the help of test data sets supplied to the program.
