3. Information gathered by ULB radar
Several types of information can be gathered by radar.
3.1 Presence of a target
Radar systems detect targets by reflecting electromagnetic waves. This wave is radiated, and when it reaches the target, the latter sends part of the wave back to a receiving antenna. The return of this reflected wave indicates the presence of the target.
The presence of a target is thus indicated by a change in a radar characteristic. For example, a moving target can be detected by observing the evolution of the signal received by the receiving antenna.
However, in most cases, the presence of the target is not enough, and it needs to be located.
