3. Wavelet packets

As the signals under study become more complex, it can be interesting to adapt their representation to their time-frequency characteristics. This fact has become relatively quickly apparent to researchers working on wavelets, and in particular on their application to audio. It's worth noting, however, that this adaptability comes at the cost of a significant increase in the complexity of the algorithms employed.
