4. Outlook and developments
NIPSON Technology's latest magnetic printers currently on the market deliver paper speeds of 300 m/min at 600 dpi resolution. The objectives of magnetography are to further increase resolution (900, even 1,200 dpi) and printing speed, to reach speeds of the order of 600 m/min in the near future. To achieve this, the various elements linked to the magnetic recording of information on the drum, namely the writing of the latent image, revealed by the development of magnetic toner, and its erasure, offering the opportunity to inscribe new information, need to be reviewed and optimized. Indeed, such a substantial increase in printing speed requires an in-depth understanding of the writing and erasing mechanisms. This requires research into materials (drum materials, toner materials) as well as research into the printer's technical components (erasing head, writing head).
