6. Applications to different types of space

In this paragraph, we focus on the internal acoustics of premises.

6.1 Residential and office premises

In general, the aim here is to achieve a level of sound comfort characterized by sufficiently low background noise and reverberation.

Controlling background noise levels is often tricky, and the solutions proposed are costly. To protect against noise from outside the room, we use the usual insulation techniques in architectural acoustics: mass law, composite walls, mechanical decoupling, linings.... Ventilation noise problems, where they exist, require intervention on the air distribution network from the fan, ducts and supply outlets.
