4. Selective acknowledgements: SACK

The classic acknowledgement method implemented by TCP, based on the ACK N˚ field, shows significant limitations when segment losses occur. Indeed, as we saw in paragraph 2.1.2 , when there are multiple losses in a transmission window, the receiving TCP can only indicate to the sender the first of the missing bytes, the latter then having to wait for the reception of an ACK acknowledging new data before being able to decide...
