2. IMS architecture
The IMS architecture is based on certain principles set out in the 3GPP technical specifications from the very first release (Rel-5 finalized in March 2003). This architecture is evolving and being enriched with new functionalities (Rel-6 finalized in March 2005 and Rel-7 in June 2007).
