3. Functions associated with IPv6

In recent years, IETF working groups have been studying a wide range of functions, in particular to address Quality of Service (QoS), security and mobility requirements. This work has given rise to numerous RfCs for IPv4 and IPv6. The IPv4 protocol continues to be enriched with new capabilities, but their deployment is often complex and generally limited to Intranet or Extranet uses. With IPv6, these functions take on a whole new dimension, as global address capacity is no longer an obstacle to their deployment.
