The security policy is the set of security parameters required to protect the site. It groups together the security mechanisms for protecting connections, which generally require additional details such as the type of encryption algorithm and the encryption keys to be used.
IPsec security policy takes the form of security associations . In other words, initially, the two security devices (terminals, security gateways) wishing to protect their exchanges each have their own security policy, dictated by their respective security officer.
