3. IPv6 protocol: its vulnerabilities

The threats to be managed by a mobile operator are not really dependent on the IP protocol version under consideration, IPv4 or IPv6. A mobile operator must consider the protection of its infrastructures and services at the same boundaries as identified in figure 8 .

As the IPv6 protocol is gradually deployed, we must also consider that attacks on this protocol are also limited for the time being. These assumptions might lead us to believe that the security functions associated with IPv6 are equivalent to those considered for IPv4.
