4. Modeling surface wave devices
The highly sophisticated analysis presented in the previous paragraphs gives access to particularly precise results that account for all the linear acoustoelectric phenomena present in the operation of surface-wave components, and therefore represents the most advanced solution for understanding the physical mechanisms involved in elastic waveguides. Nevertheless, the simulation of complete surface-wave components remains the key element of any surface-wave filter design stage. It is therefore essential to be able to carry out this operation in a very short time (on the scale of a minute) without compromising the accuracy of theoretical predictions - a fundamental feature from an industrial point of view, as the cost reduction offered by a reliable computer-aided design tool can prove important in this sector.
