5.1 Components of LMP batteries
LMP batteries are made up of films of three main components: a lithium foil, a thin film of polymer electrolyte and a composite positive electrode containing the electrochemically active material (figure 7 ). Composite electrodes are volume electrodes in which the electrochemical reaction is distributed throughout the electrode volume on the surface of the active material particles.
