3. LCA methodology

There is no single method for developing an LCA. ISO standards allow for flexibility in assessing environmental impacts. According to ISO, this methodology is built in 4 phases:

  • definition of study objectives and scope,

  • inventory: material and energy balances for life-cycle stages,

  • impact assessment: analysis of potential environmental impacts,

  • interpretation: review of results and recommendations.
