7. Compensation systems
Power capacitors and shunt capacitor banks are used to clear reactive power upstream of the point of consumption. Shunt reactive compensation systems can be installed in LV, MV and HV systems.
7.1 LV compensation
Low-voltage capacitor banks are installed on the customer's premises (usually industrial consumers) downstream of the metering station. Industrial customers can make the most of their energy supply contract, by improving the power factor of their installation.
