3.1 Data

Consider an MV line with the following characteristics:

  • 117 mm 2 Almelec conductors (ASTER 117) :

    • cross-sectional area S = 116.98 mm 2 .

    • radius r = 7 mm

    • nominal electrical resistance at 20 °C = 0.283 Ω/ km

  • distance between conductors: 1 m

  • height of conductors above ground: 10 m

  • soil resistivity: 100 Ω · m (these last two values are only used to calculate the homopolar mode).
