4.1 Context
Around 1.2 billion people worldwide live without electricity. Their source of energy is the combustion of biomass, often in very rudimentary households and in deplorable sanitary conditions. A major challenge is to give them access to more sophisticated combustion systems for their basic needs (cooking, hot water and heating), as well as access to electricity so they can recharge their cell phones, an indispensable tool today.
